The ever reliable DJ-Kicks series is a small bastion of hope for the compilation album. The abundance of music available online and the ability to drag and drop files into playlists may make the mix CD seem redundant, but there’s still value to be had in a well-constructed set that has been expertly chosen and seamlessly blended together. The esteem in which the series is held shouldn’t be underestimated either. With past sets from Carl Craig, Four Tet and Hot Chip to consider, not to mention an excellent upcoming mix by Kode9, producer, DJ and remixer to the stars James Holden was practically forced to up his game to maintain the impeccable standard of the series. Veteran rocker PHIL COLLINS doubts he will ever release another album full of original material again – because he would rather spend time with his children.

The former Genesis frontman is preparing to release Going Back, his first project in eight years, this September (10), but the disc does not feature any new compositions – it features Collins covering some of his favourite soul and Motown records.

The 59 year old insists he still crafts new songs from time to time, but may never collate them for one single release because he prefers people to hear his tracks as and when he makes them.

He tells the Associated Press, “I’ll write the songs that I know are good, and I may make a copy for my kids, or put it on the Internet somehow. Continue reading ‘Collins Unsure He Will Ever Release Another Original Album’

The ‘All the Lovers’ singer – who shot to fame after appearing in Australian TV serial drama ‘Neighbours’ for three years until 1989 – is currently considering offers to return to the big screen and doesn’t believe her previous flop movies will stop her achieving cinematic success this time around.

Kylie – who has appeared in films including ‘Street Fighter’ and ‘The Delinquents’ – said: ‘The mid-90s were a bad patch, but show me an actor who hasn’t done a few bad jobs.

‘I have a deep desire to challenge myself with that again. As a ‘pop star,’ I’ve created this world for myself, and it becomes very natural to stay inside of it, but I’d love to do some independent films.

‘It’s still very early, but I’m in the process of choosing between specific parts.’ Continue reading ‘Kylie Minogue is returning to acting’

He said: ‘I think she’s a combination of both of us so far. But she got my wife’s legs, which is very lucky for her. She sure didn’t deserve mine.’

The 42-year-old star says he is constantly amazed by Sunday Rose and loves being a father to her.

Speaking about fatherhood, he told People magazine: ‘It’s always something new, that’s what I love about it. And maybe other dads are different, but for me, it keeps coming on. Continue reading ‘Keith Urban glad his daughter has Nicole Kidman’s legs’
